ORIGINAL ANIMATION PRODUCTION CELS
The most sought after type of animation art. Sometimes
called original production cels (short for celluloids), these are hand-painted and
have generally been used in the making of an animated film or cartoon short. They are filmed
in sequence to create the illusion of motion. Production cels that are not
used in the final production are called model cels and/or preliminary art. Many original
production cels have been either lost of destroyed throughout the years which
serves to enhance its value as collectible art.

that are not displayed here but available for sale so please inquire.

PINK PANTHER
The PINK PANTHER first appeared in 1963 when director Blake Edwards needed
an animated opening sequence for his film "The Pink Panther". He assigned the
newly formed DePatie-Freleng (headed by Looney Toons director Friz Freleng and
producer David H. DePatie) to create a cartoon character for the film's opening
sequence. Edwards chose a design drawn by Hawley Pratt, who was Freleng's layout
man for nearly a decade. Pratt was assigned to direct the opening sequence for
the movie and the Panther literally stole the show, so United Artists decided
to give the Panther his own theatrical series.

POPEYE and OLIVE OYL
He's short, balding, ornery and downright ugly by anyone's standards. But countless
numbers of fans have grown up admiring and identifying with this unpretentious
spinach-loving hero. Celebrating his 75th Anniversary in 2004, "Popeye" remains one of
the most widely recognized and best-loved personalities ever. Popeye made his first
public appearance in 1929, in Elzie Segar's then 10-year-old comic strip, "Thimble Theatre",
which originally revolved around Olive Oyl's family. Although he was introduced as a minor
walk-on character, Popeye quickly "muskled" his way into the limelight and eclipsed the older
characters to become the star of "Thimble Theatre." With Popeye came a host of new, off-beat
funny folks such as Swee'Pea, the "infink" Popeye adopted; J. Wellington Wimpy, the world's
most hamburger-obsessed moocher; and Bluto, the hairy "heavy" with the glass jaw. Today Popeye
continues to be one of the most widely recognized and beloved characters in the world.

RAMBO
Rambo was based on the successful movie franchise of the same name starring
Sylvester Stallone as freedom fighter John Rambo. The cartoon series debuted
in April of 1986 as a five part mini series, and was renewed in September as a
daily cartoon. In the cartoon, Rambo was now part of a team called The Force
of Freedom which went on missions around the world battling against the evil
organization S.A.V.A.G.E., led by General Warhawk. Although the cartoon was
filled with lots of fighting and gun fire, there was never any sensational
violence, blood or gore, and rarely did anyone ever die.

van called the Mystery Machine.) In the 1990s Scooby Doo returned as a nostalgic
pop icon for Generation X. A Scooby-Doo feature film was released in 2002, with

Warner Brothers' drooling, manic Tazmanian Devil worked as a bellhop at Australia’s

TAZMANIAN DEVIL (TAZ)
The Tasmanian Devil was conceived by director Robert McKimson and writer Sid Marcus
in 1954 as they were brainstorming to find a new opponent for Bugs Bunny. One of
them remarked that the combined talents of animators at the studio had turned
practically every animal in existence into a cartoon character and that all that
was left was a Tasmanian Devil.
